Common Questions

Do I need gate repair experience to open a Warden Gate Repair location?

No prior gate or opener experience is required. We train every owner on the equipment, the repair process, and the Threshold Standard before you take your first job. What you do need is a willingness to follow a proven system and treat every homeowner the way you’d want someone showing up at your own door to treat you.

What does it cost to open a location?

Total investment varies by market size, real estate costs, and whether you’re outfitting a single van or a small fleet, but most owners should plan for a range in the low six figures. That includes your initial vehicle setup, tooling, inventory of common parts, training, and working capital for the first months. We’ll walk you through itemized numbers during the discovery process so there are no surprises, which is how we treat our customers too.

Is financing available?

We don’t provide direct financing, but we do work with owners who come in with SBA loans, conventional small business lending, or private capital. Our team can point you toward lenders who’ve worked with service franchisees before and understand this model. Exact terms are between you and your lender, and we encourage every candidate to review all options with a qualified financial advisor.

Will I have an exclusive territory?

Yes. Each Warden Gate Repair location operates in a defined service area, and we don’t place another location inside your boundaries. Territory size depends on population density and demand for automatic gate and opener service in your region, and we’ll map that out together before you sign anything.

How long is training, and what does it cover?

Initial training runs several weeks and blends classroom-style learning with hands-on time in the field next to an experienced tech. You’ll learn the electrical and mechanical side of slide gates, swing gates, and the nine brands we’re authorized to service: LiftMaster, FAAC, BFT, Linear, Viking, Ghost Controls, DoorKing, Elite, and Mighty Mule. You’ll also train on the business side, including pricing jobs, running the schedule, and the customer-facing steps of the Threshold Standard, which means every tech gets background-checked, identity-verified, photo-badged, and sent to the customer by name and photo before arrival.

What are the ongoing fees?

Warden Gate Repair charges a royalty based on a percentage of gross revenue, plus a modest brand fund contribution that supports shared marketing and the systems that keep every location running to Threshold Verified standards. We don’t nickel-and-dime owners with hidden line items. Before you sign, you’ll see the full fee schedule in writing, which is the same rule our techs follow with every repair quote.

How quickly can I be open and taking calls?

Most owners are operational within three to six months of signing, depending on how quickly you secure a vehicle, set up your local phone line, and complete training. The goal isn’t speed; it’s being ready on day one to put a written price in front of a customer before any work starts and stand behind it with the 365-Day Done Right Promise. That promise, by the way, means if a repair isn’t done right, we return and make it right at no charge for a full year.

What kind of support do I get after opening?

You get ongoing technical support for the equipment, marketing support for your local area, and access to our parts network so you’re not waiting weeks for a board or a hinge bracket. Calls from homeowners to your location are answered by a live person 24/7. That’s not just a customer promise; it’s how the system is built. If one of your customers calls at 2 a.m. because a gate won’t close, a real person picks up.

Who is the ideal candidate for a Warden Gate Repair franchise?

The right owner is someone who sees the value in a brand built on a simple promise: gates and openers that just work, by a tech badged before arrival. You don’t need to be a master electrician or a salesperson. You do need to be organized, comfortable managing a small team, and genuinely committed to showing up the way you said you would. Cole Rafferty, our owner, sums it up this way: name the part, name the price, skip the filler.

What’s the next step if I’m interested?

Call our franchise line at (828) 426-7081 and talk to a real person. We’ll walk you through the model, share the franchise disclosure document, and answer your questions honestly, including the ones about what can go wrong. If it’s a fit, we’ll move forward. If it’s not, we’ll tell you that too.

Still Have Questions?
