Training & Ongoing Support
You don’t need to know a gate opener from a garage door opener before you sign. Most of our owners came from somewhere else entirely: sales, the trades, corporate jobs, military service. What they shared was a willingness to follow a system that’s already been built. We train you on the technical side, the business side, and the part nobody warns you about: what to do when a customer’s gate fails at 6:45 on a Tuesday evening and their car is stuck in the driveway. Then we stay on the phone with you until it’s handled. That’s the whole point of a franchise partnership. You’re buying the playbook, not guessing at it.
Initial Training
Training starts before you ever turn a wrench. Your first block covers how we run a gate repair business day to day: scheduling, dispatching, pricing jobs, managing inventory, and the non-negotiable habit of putting every price in writing before work starts. That written-price rule is Threshold Standard, and it protects you as much as it protects the customer. No surprise invoices, no end-of-day arguments about what something costs.
Then you learn the trade itself. We train on the nine brands we service: LiftMaster, FAAC, BFT, Linear, Viking, Ghost Controls, DoorKing, Elite, and Mighty Mule. You’ll learn how gate motors work, how to diagnose common failures, how safety edges and photo eyes function, and why a swing gate behaves differently from a slide gate. We also cover safety the way it needs to be covered. Gate operators weigh hundreds of pounds and run on electricity. A mistake with a high-tension spring or a live control board can hurt someone. We teach you what to check, what to isolate, and when to call a senior tech rather than improvise. That’s the training facility and the playbook doing their job: you get hands-on repetitions before you ever stand in a customer’s driveway.
Finally, we cover the software: the scheduling system, the customer communication tools, the photo-and-name dispatch flow so every homeowner knows exactly who’s coming before you arrive. You’ll also sit through hiring basics and local marketing setup. No prior gate repair experience required. We assume you’re starting from zero, because most owners do.
Launch Support
Opening day is not the end of training. It’s the beginning of the coaching that matters most: your first real jobs, with real customers, real invoices, and real problems that don’t always match the manual.
We help you get your local marketing live before you open: the Google Business Profile, the service-area pages, the local search presence. Then we help you turn that into a lead engine. The first few weeks are about volume: getting calls, quoting jobs, showing up on time, and earning the kind of reviews that make the phone ring without paid ads. For your first ten jobs or so, you’ll have a coach on call to talk through diagnostics, pricing, and the customer conversation. If a gate motor is doing something odd and you’re not sure whether it’s the capacitor or the control board, you don’t stand there guessing. You call. That’s first-jobs coaching in one sentence.
We also stay close on the operations side. Launch support covers how to handle same-day emergency calls without overbooking, how to stage parts for common repairs, and how to manage the written-price rule when a customer pushes back. Most customers don’t. They’re relieved.
Ongoing Support
Support doesn’t end after your first month. It just changes shape. Here’s what you can expect:
- Field coaching and technical hotline: when a repair doesn’t follow the pattern, you call a senior tech who’s seen it before.
- Marketing playbooks and local campaigns: updated regularly, built for gate repair specifically, not generic home services.
- Vendor relationships and parts sourcing: we’ve already negotiated supplier access for the nine brands we service, so you’re not cold-calling distributors.
- Technology and dispatch tools: the scheduling, photo-and-name notification, and invoicing software stays updated on our side, you use it daily.
- National brand campaigns: the Warden name, the Threshold Verified badge, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise get promoted nationally, which makes your local door-knocking easier.
- Peer network: other Warden owners share what’s working in their markets. Somebody’s already solved the problem you’re facing this week.
